Hi Everyone!
Here is an update on how my former foster dog Shamus is doing.  I'm so proud of our boy!   Cheesy

Hi Ginger, been meaning to write, sorry i haven't kept in touch better.  Shamus is doing wonderfully!!!

We have started Shamus in Service Dog Training through a friend.  He now goes most everywhere I go.  His training is progressing beautifully.  Shamus is going through the CGC training (Canine Good Citizenship), if he makes it through that he will move on to more advanced training from there.  He is wearing his "in training" patch on his vest for now and I am told it can take up to 1 to 2 years to formally train him.  He is so well behaved & willing to learn & please, it astounds me.  It is so hard to believe that such a beautiful & affectionate dog could have been in the situation that he was in, we are truly grateful to have him.

He still plays with his favorite toy that he came to us with, although now he does play with additional toys.  I think he is finally realizing he is in a safe, loving & permanent home.

With warmest regards,
Shawn & Renee'

This is the newest update from Shamus' owners.  I am so thrilled he's doing so well.  But then again, I knew he was special  Cheesy

Hello Ladies,
Just wanted to let you both know that Shamus passed the CGC course with flying colors last night.  I will be mailing off his registration form within the next few days.  (been fighting a horrible cold this week)  I will be in touch with Delta Society shortly to get him registered with them to pursue his Therapy Dog registration.  Will keep you both posted as we progress.  Can't thank you enough for saving him.  We are thankful everyday to have him as a member of our family.

I have a ECGRR golden retriever that is a Delta and READ certified dog too! Goes to show how great rescue dogs can be!! Abbey goes to an elementary school in my area and visits with autistic children and learning delayed children read to her. She loves to go to visit with her kids! Just remember that Delta is a therapy dog certification and not an assistance dog and they cannot go everywhere unless you have prior approval. (stores, librarys, schools) Assistance dogs can go anywhere. I do not want you to lose yor certification. Good luck and keep us posted on more successes.
