Rudder (Sandy) Rescued: Adopted: 02/2006 Hurricane Katrina's impact resulted in many homeless animals. Sandy was a Golden that entered our program because of Katrina. Jacob, her new "Dad" writes: After losing my first golden retriever to lung cancer, I decided that I wanted to adopt a golden. I had just bought a house and knew I did not have time in my life for a new puppy. ECGRR suggest that I meet “Sandy”, a male golden that was a hurricane Katrina surrender. I jumped at the chance to meet him. Rocky brought Sandy for a short weekend stay with my family and me. Sandy was very eager to please and got along well with the other 2 goldens that are already a part of the our family. As the weekend came to a close I knew that he was going to be the dog for me. His name has been changed to “Rudder’ and he proves to be a very loyal and lovable lap dog, all 75 pounds of him. He has mastered walking expertly on the leash each evening and LOVES going to Pet Smart to be hugged by all the children. Rudder is learning to enjoy the water and is romping after his golden sisters in the bay. Thank you ECGRR for rescuing Sandy aka Rudder, as he is a perfect addition to my new home.
THANK YOU Jacob for opening your heart and home to Rudder! |
