8-19-2010 Update

8-19-2010 Update: Here's what Stogie's foster Mom has to say about our latest Senior: "Stogie is a delight.  He is well mannered, calm, and seems so happy to have attention and love.  As far as I can tell, he has no bad habits.  He is not aggressive, does not dig, does not bark, has never had an accident in the house, does not seem to mind cats, eats well, and sleeps through the night in his crate.  He has had a play date with my brother's dog, a golden mix, and they had a great time.  He loves dinner time, loves rolling around on the lawn, and is already aware of the routines of my household, such as "dog quality time" each afternoon, when we play in the kiddie pool and sit out in the yard doing dog stuff.  Stogie is a dear heart.  I really wonder what the first 12 years of his life were like, but he has definitely learned manners along the way.  He loves a pat on the head, a good butt rub, and just likes to be around people."

Life is looking up!

Meet our wonderful senior Mr. Stogie who was recently rescued from a kill shelter.  We can't believe someone would just bring him to a kill shelter; he is so very smart and sweet.

Stogie was born May 1, 1998, but he is a young 12 year old male.  He acts like he's 5 to 6 years old, but his graying face tells us a different story.  He needs a little help getting into a car, but jumps right out with no problem.  Once in the car, he sits up, looks out and when the car goes into motion, he will lie down like a gentleman.  He knows his name, "come" and "sit".  He will gently take a treat from your hand.

Although Stogie's eyes are clear he may have a sight problem.  He was recently groomed (hence "the haircut") and we're sure he feels 100% better.  He is up to date on all of his vaccines, unfortunately he is heartworm positive.  He has been given a Heartgard and this will be the method of treatment for him.  He should be tested again in about six months.  It's recommends he put on a few pounds before being neutered.

If you think you can give this wonderfully sweet guy a great life, fill out the online adoption application and mention "Stogie" by name.  It will be a rewarding experience for you.

I'm a good boy.

Not bad for a old man.

Where's my forever family?
