Success Stories - 2004

Madison

Adopted September 9, 2004

Madison was fortunate enough to be found by a woman with a huge heart. Kim took Madison in while on a dive trip to some of Florida's caverns. Their guide told them he would either be killed by a car or shot by a local. Well, Kim wouldn't hear of that and Madison's adventure began.

Kim contacted us and agreed to foster him and asked if we could help find him a home. Madison was a real trooper and hung out at The Doggy Bag in Destin at several of our meet-and-greets. Despite his good manners, we were all broken hearted when no one ever wanted to take him home. Madison always had us guessing....he is obviously part Golden Retriever, but that cute fluffy tail curled up tight made us guess half Akita? half Chow? Madison definately has the personality of a Golden though.

We were able to get Madison treated for heartworms by Dr. Conrad in Crestview and finally Kim called with the great news that her mother loved Madison and was interested in adopting him, but she lived out of state. We were glad to tell Kim that we adopt dogs to wonderful homes. WE don't care where those homes are located.

Madison is now an Illinois resident! Vennie had Madison work with a trainer and their homework has been learning to "come when called, wait to go out a door, stay, and walk on a leash." Vennie is amazed with how smart Madison is. (The girls at The Doggy Bag knew that or they wouldn't have let him hang out in the store.) He has fit right into the household. Jennie, one of Vennie's four cats, quickly became Madison's friend. He also has friends in the neighborhood that he visits with through the fence. We are so happy Madison is in a safe place now. THANKS VENNIE!!!!!
