 Eight-Year-Old Female ADOPTED!
| | Summer is a sweet, beautiful, playful 8 year old spayed female golden retriever. Our understanding is that her original owner passed away. A family member took her in but kept her crated for long periods. She was eventually adopted by a family who had her for six months but now has to move and cannot take her with them. She is a very good girl. She knows basic obedience commands, has excellent house manners, obeys well off leash and seems to be in overall good health and is of average size for a female golden, about 57 lbs. Summer loves fetching tennis balls, eating “cookies”, and getting tummy rubs, hugs and kisses. She greets you enthusiastically when you come in the door, but has never tried to jump on us. Summer gets along fine with my two other dogs as long as they are not too pushy. She would probably do best as an only dog, or with other more submissive dogs. She does appear to have some mild thunderstorm sensitivity, but would probably do fine as long as she’s not left alone for long periods of time, especially during the thunderstorm seasons. She seems fine with children, but because of her senior status, we feel that she would be most comfortable in a more mature home, or family with older children. She does like to follow you around the house and lie close to wherever you are. Summer would probably enjoy training and competing in novice level obedience or rally obedience, as she loves to have someone take time with her and she’s very eager to please. She would also probably make an awesome therapy dog. If you think you have the forever home Summer has been waiting for please fill out an adoption application and mention her by name. |
