Maggie #10002 and Miley #10003 Print E-mail

One to Two-Year-Old Female
ADOPTED!

UPDATE 1-26-2010:  Miley has been Adopted and Maggie is Adoption Pending while going through heart worm treatments.

This is a story of a mother and her child:

Maggie is a one to two year old sweet, loving Golden Retriever Mommy who was found as a stray with her young puppy and taken to the Santa Rosa Shelter.  She was very skinny and dirty and it looked as though she had been wandering for weeks, however, she had obviously taken very good care of little Miley, never losing track of her.

This amazing girl literally brings tears to the eyes of all who meet her.  Although she has obviously had a rough life, she has no hard feelings towards people and has a smile and lick for anyone who needs it.  She loves her foster brothers and sisters and seems to like everyone.

Maggie’s foster Mom took her and her pup to the Vet and found that she is malnourished and underweight with a very bad upper respiratory infection, and is Heartworm positive.  If all goes well, and she can fight the infection and gain a bit of weight, Maggie can start heartworm treatment in four weeks.  She is eating puppy food and has put on one pound already!

It will be a while before she can be adopted but she needs to know that there are people out there who want to love her.  She will bring inspiration to anyone who knows what it is like to come back from a bad situation without losing your humanity, or in this case, canine compassion.

Standing in the sun on a cold winters day.  Can you see Miley under there?

What a face!

The sun feels really good.

Miley stays close to her Mom.

Miley is a seven week old Golden Retriever mix who found as a stray with her mom, Maggie.  Although her mom was in pretty bad shape she had obviously taken very good care of little Miley who is being treated for an upper respiratory infection and should be fine soon. She is very healthy and active otherwise and should grow into her big paws with no problems.  Her coat is solid black.  We don’t know the breed of the fence-jumper, but he was probably of the Labrador variety.

If you think you have the home for one of these sweet dogs fill out an online application and mention them by name.
