2009 Barktoberfest Print E-mail

The ECGRR Tent

This was ECGRR’s best Barktoberfest EVER!!  ECGRR had a strong presence and was very popular with the many golden owners in the area. We estimated that over 800 golden lovers visited the booth.

Donations were collected from local businesses, restaurants, and artists. Through the silent auctions and raffles, ECGRR collected over $1,000.  All of the funds raised will help us rescue a lot of dogs! In addition to our monetary success, we also increased our base of fosters and other volunteers, and expanded our recognition to all who visited.  More importantly, all the rescues that attended had success getting the word out regarding the importance of adopting a rescue dog or cat.

Visiting Goldens

As you can see from the pictures, canines and humans alike had fun. There were lots of booths featuring dog accessories, groomers, veterinarians, doggie hotels. Etc. as well as most of the area rescue groups such as Great Dane, Schnauser, Greyhound, and many others were in attendance.

Fun activities such as, best fly ball competition, costume contests, raffles, and dog agility runs were held throughout the day.  Many remarked, "I wish we could do this more than once a year!"  Wouldn’t that be so much fun!

Kids had a lot of fun too. There were clowns making balloon animals, candy making booths and contests for them to enter with their pets.  Just a few were:  best kisser, pet owner look alike, doggie costume contests and so much more.

Many thanks to all of our golden friends who stopped by, the businesses that supplied donations, and our ECGRR volunteers who made this such a successful event. ECGRR looks forward to seeing you all at Dog Daze in Fort Walton Beach on October 17, 2009 so we can do it all again!
