Success Stories - 2005

Max

Rescued 5-26-05
Adopted 6-12-05

Max is a 7 year old Golden who came to ECGRR when the original owners no longer wanted him.  After the surrender took place at a local Wal-Mart parking lot Max went into foster care in the Destin area.  This was a first time experience for Max and his new foster family.  Cathy, along with her daughters Elise 13, and Maria 12, decided they would "give fostering a try." Their 2 year old female Golden named Roxy needed a playmate and as Cathy says, "a good influence!"   Max was the perfect dog for the job.

Max made himself part of his foster family from the time he arrived in the driveway.  Max and Roxy went for a stroll around the neighborhood to get acquainted with each other and the two became instant friends.  In the weeks that followed Cathy tells us that Max loved to walk around the house with a stuffed animal in his mouth that he helped himself to from one of the girls rooms.  They affectionately called it his "lovey."  His favorite place in the house to sleep was behind Maria's bedroom door where she had made him a bed of blankets.

ECGRR was then contacted by Steve who had seen Max on our website and wanted to adopt him.  Steve was looking for a dog who could be his companion.  We all decided to meet at Niceville Dog Park on Sunday afternoon.  It was love at first sight for Steve and Max.  Both seemed to have that special gleam in their eye when you know the two of you were meant to be a family.  After about 30 minutes in the park, Steve wrote a check to ECGRR for the cost of Max's adoption and the two walked off together as a pair into the sunset.  Max and Steve now spend their days just enjoying each other.

Thank-You Steve for giving Max his forever home.  We know the two of you will have many years of Golden Memories to come.

*A very special Thank-You to Cathy, Elise, and Maria.*
You ALL made what could have been a very scary transition for Max in to one filled with love and compassion. It's because of families like you that are willing to open your hearts and homes that ECGRR is able to continue our efforts in rescuing Goldens.
