Maggie

Rescued 14-May-05
Adopted 28-May-05

Is it a dog or a duck?  That is the question.  The answer.......a dog!  Actually a very special dog named Maggie who is 9 months old.  Maggie was surrendered by her original owner who just didn't have enough time for her.  Lucky for Maggie, her new brother Jon and sister Allie do have time for her.  And the three of them have become quite a team.

Jon and Allie's mom, Joan, had contacted us about getting a Golden for her children as a surprise.  As soon as she saw Maggie, she knew they would all be a family.

Joan took Maggie on a temporary basis as all of our adoptive homes do.  This is a good way to see how everyone will interact with each other.  Well, on Maggie's second night in her new home, something spooked her.  Her puppy bark was just the right pitch to set off the doorbell!  All night, Maggie barked, the doorbell rang, Maggie barked, the doorbell rang.  The family decided that if everyone still loved her in the morning, after a night of no sleep, they would keep her.  Needless to say, she's been kept!  Now that's truly unconditional love.

Joan tells us that Maggie loves the pool!  Nobody can get in until Maggie is in first.  When she is done with her doggy paddle laps she will get on the raft and fall asleep.  It's exhausting trying to keep that girlish figure.

While in the backyard one day, Maggie was "taking care of business" when a bird swooped down and pecked her on the head.  Maggie ran in the backdoor to the other side of the house, got in her kennel and wouldn't come out!  Maggie had seen the Alfred Hitchcock movie The Birds but never thought she would be living the nightmare!  Oh My!

Maggie has truly become one of the family.  Thank you all for giving Maggie her forever home.  We know you will all have many years of Golden Fun to come.
