Success Stories 2002

Lucy

Lucy's original owners moved to a place where they could not take her with them. The Emerald Coast Golden Retriever Rescue placed Lucy with a nice young Air Force couple. The new owners took Lucy to their vet a few days after adopting her, and when they arrived the vet tech confirmed that everything was on track for Lucy to be euthanised. The new owners did not request this and inquired as to why the tech vet had mentioned euthanasia. It turned out that the original and the new owners used the same vet, and the original owners had scheduled to euthanise Lucy if they had not found her a new home by the date of their move. By coincidence the new owners brought Lucy in on her scheduled execution date! UPDATE: About 6-months later the new owners were transferred to Oklahoma. They looked and looked but could not find a rental house that would accept a dog, so they BOUGHT a house instead! This goes to show how special Goldens quickly become to their adopted families.
