• Thelma (II) Print E-mail

Thelma II is the chocolate sister of blonde Louise II - they're definitely Golden with a little something mixed in.  They are being fostered separately and can be adopted together or not.  They came to us from a kill shelter then had to spend some time at the vet kennel getting spayed until we could break them out into foster care.

Thelma is an exotic beauty, certainly one of unique coloring. She’s a bit on the smaller side, full of puppy vigor on one hand, but extremely docile on the other, especially considering she’s only 5 mos old! At her current foster home she’s being kenneled while “mom” is away, the baby gate turned out to be just a tad too short and easily breached, but no major harm done. She goes to work and is a great office dog, enjoying watching the out the window at the park, or relaxing under the desk.  And of course wallowing in all the staff’s attention!

Miss Thelma has a very sweet if not a bit timid demeanor, (there’s no telling what her life before was like), and is smart, eager to please and overall a happy girl.  She walks very well on a leash and is a relaxed car rider.

Thelma’s only issue seems to be a fear of other dogs, (and pretty leary of cats, we don’t think she’s had much exposure) which exhibits itself in growling and tail tucking.  It’s likely she’s had at least one bad encounter in her life that’s stuck with her.  Odd behavior for such a young one, but something we feel can be overcome with time, socialization or training, and a little extra TLC.  She would probably do best in a home where, if she has dog mates, they are a little older, calmer, and tolerant of others.

Thelma is a great companion, and with the little extra attention she needs for her doggie social skills, she’s sure to be good as gold!  Or chocolate…

UPDATE:  Lucky Thelma has found a wonderful home!
