Once upon a time, there was a Golden Retriever named Jake. As so often happens, Jake didn't have the best start in life - he had been hit by a car, and then surrendered to ECGRR. While he was awaiting adoption, he had to be boarded for a brief period of time because his foster family was on vacation and he developed kennel cough and couldn't be placed in another foster home.
While Jake was being boarded, his path crossed with a very lovely lady named Peggy who is the office manager for one of our wonderful veterinarian offices. Peggy immediately noticed the resemblance between Jake and her Golden girl, Frosty, and fell in love with him. Alas, she knew he was scheduled for adoption as soon as he recovered from his illness. Jake and Peggy eventually had to say goodbye so that Jake could go to his new home, but Peggy told our ECGRR volunteer that if anything ever happened and Jake needed her, she would be there for him. Time passed and life seemingly returned to normal for Jake and Peggy. However, one day Fate stepped in and ECGRR got a call from Jake's adoptive family telling us that, although Jake was a wonderful dog, he wasn't the right dog for their family. The ECGRR volunteer immediately called Peggy to let her know that Jake was available for adoption. As you can imagine, Jake was soon reunited with Peggy, and he also got a wonderful new dad and a beautiful sister! As a bonus, he even got a new name to go with his new start in life: Jake became Jack!
Jack is involved in all kinds of wonderful new activities and has a very busy social schedule. Here is the "rest of the story" as told by Mom Peggy...
"He loves Flyball, as you can see in his picture. He can run so fast! He is involved with the Greater Panama City Dog Fanciers Association, he loves being in parades and loving on everybody! Jack has such a wonderful personality and has a great will for life! His roommate, Frosty, loves his wanting to play all the time. Frosty is a female Golden and they have fallen for one another. Jack has had a pretty bad start in life, but now he is in " Dogtopia" and we will continue to spoil him until he has to go to the rainbow bridge. Jack has been a blessing to Frosty and us! He has taught us that no matter how bad life can be, there is always a "Dogtopia" for everyone! And we are so glad that we could be the ones Jack could count on for that next chance! Jack says... "Life's a ball, roll with it"!"
And they lived happily ever after...
